1999 Gold Cup Info

The 1999 Gold Cup regatta primary site is near Montreal, Canada in Pointe Claire, Quebec, on Lac Ste Louis. The site is approximately three miles East of where the 1995 Gold Cup was held in Beaconsfield.

The size of the ice for racing measures about 3 miles by 3 miles. It was clear on Wednesday February 17th at noon.

Launching: Coming from the West on the 401, this becomes Route 20. Take the Cartier Ave Exit in Pointe Claire. There is no parking of tow vehicles on the ice.

Regatta Headquarters is at the Holiday Inn at Dorval. Approximately 15 minutes east of the launch site.

From Route 20, take the Dorval Circle Exit (Dorval is a Montreal airport).

Flag raising ceremony is Saturday February 20th at 3 pm on the ice.

Registration and check in is from 5 pm to 8pm at Regatta headquarters that evening.

The first race is Sunday February 21st at 10am. The Bronze fleet has the first start. This mini-qualifier also counts as the first race for boats that do not move up.

As of 8pm Weds 2/17, one half inch of snow had fallen on the primary site. Trenton, Ontario, 3 hours West, is being considered as an alternate site. Lac de Chen in Ottawa, Ontario, 1.5 hours Northwest, is another alternate.
