Job Opportunity #1:

WANTED: Recording & Transcription Secretary
Full-time position commencing immediately

The duties of this challenging position include attending hearings, swearing witnesses, recording the proceedings with electronic and digital recording devices, taking notes, keeping lists of exhibits and undertakings, providing a verbatim transcript when and if requested; and other office duties as assigned.

The person we are searching for will have a professional, mature, confident demeanor, an ability to work in a computerized environment, possess an accurate keyboarding speed of 55 words a minute, demonstrate high quality grammar, proofreading, and spelling skill levels and exhibit a natural attention for detail. Must be flexible, able to work under pressure of deadlines, and willing to accept increasing responsibilities. The ideal person will enjoy working with "words" on a daily basis - typing them, hearing them on tape, proofing them, checking their meanings, and using them in their everyday lives.

Work Details: Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 5:00. Salary depends on qualifications.

Qualifications: Grade XII supplemented by post secondary training in Medical Transcriptionist, Legal Secretary, or Administrative Secretary. Minimum of three years' experience in an office administrative environment is required.

EXPERIENCED LEGAL ASSISTANT
for the Law Office of Paul Mullin

Overview of position:

This position is essential to the successful operation of the law office, with responsibilities in the areas of accounting, preparation of legal documents relating to property law and civil litigation, as well as some corporate/commercial.

The ideal candidate is a professional, career-oriented individual, who is well organized and able to work independently. The successful candidate will be comfortable communicating with clients and staff, in addition to others in the legal community and within government.

Description of Duties:

Legal Secretarial:
1. All required communication, correspondence and preparation of documentation from opening files to conclusion of transactions in order to complete all types of property transactions
2. Drafting of documentation in various aspects of estate, corporate, and small claims matters
3. Filing and registration of documents
4. Organizing and scheduling appointments and property closings
5. Other general secretarial duties as required

General Office Work and Accounting (PC Law):
• Month-end accounting procedures including reconciliations and documentation
• Payroll, PST and GST remittances
• Time and disbursement entries and preparation of invoices
• Payables
• General accounting and secretarial responsibilities
• Daily banking
• Deposits and cheques for both general and trust accounts
• Allocation of office expenses
• Monitoring and maintaining office equipment and supplies
